Through abstract work, I’m looking to capture a visceral human emotion. i tend do this through the study of the human form or landscape. I’m trying to find something that goes beyond intellect. That provokes VISCERAL thought, dreams and memories. In some way - it's - indulgence. Rooting around in unconscious feelings of love, pain or lust.
WHEN WORKING ON THE HUMAN FORM, I'M INTeRESTed IN EXPLORING THE WAY LIFE IMPACTS THE BODY. WHERE THE muscle, fat and blood has spread around the skeletal structure. becoming its own map - its own story.
I use Texture In my work to create a history. the soil from which the tree grows.
I want to reconnect my audience with feeling.
to feel invigorated. that we are here. right now. to feel uplifted. i am because i feel. and THAT feeling can be our guide.
Ecclesiastes 1
"What do people gain from all their labors at which they toil under the sun?
Generations come and generations go, but the earth remains forever.
“Utterly meaningless!
Everything is meaningless.”

THIS GIVES ME SOME COMFORT. BECAUSE IT'S UP TO ME - WHAT MEANING I GIVE IT/this. HOW I CHOOSE TO SPEND IT.
